Whee, it's time to talk about Rent!
For those of you who have never heard of Rent...
Freeze. Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200. Go directly to jail!
Rent is the best musical of our times. Well, besides Spring Awakening. And Wicked. And Hairspray.
But you get my point.
Rent, written by the (late) Jonathan Larson (may he RIP), is so good. No, not good. Amazing. There are too many songs to list (42!) but highlights include:
One Song, Glory
Tango: Maureen
Over the Moon
La Vie Boheme
Halloween
I'll Cover You
Seasons of Love (IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD THIS ONE, GO TO YOUTUBE A.S.A.P!)
Includes:
Homosexuality, heavy language, drug use, AIDS, death.
You have to be pretty open-minded about it, but as long as you do that, you'll LOVE it!
Oh, and that's the theme, basically. Love. And live each day to the fullest.
GO SEE THE MOVIE! OR LISTEN TO THE OBC RECORDING!
Quote of the Blog:
No day but today.
